This was part of the holiday card we sent out this yr. Miss two-and-a-half smothering Marley with her joy. FEEL IT. lol, its so them.
And here is Lil’s very first Santa experience. Taken at the SL moms club holiday party. She wasn’t afraid in the least; the moment he walked in the front door she ran right to him for a hug. Then started in with the hard questions: “Santa, where’s your sleigh?!” he pretended not to hear, lol.
She also put both hands on his stomach and said, “bowl full of jelly, mama?” I’ve read The Night Before Christmas a few times, and she really seems to love that part.
OK. So much. Hannukah, two christmases in two cities. So much family and friends and fun. This post shall serve as a placeholder until I return to elaborate on the holidaze. In the meantime – Happy Celebratory December Holiday of your choice, and Happy New Decade!
Wow there are soooo many overdue posts I’ve wanted to make. But I need to start with something that happened about an hour ago.
We were on a walk with Marley and passed by two ferociously barking dogs behind a fence. They were just going nuts which got Marley riled up. She has been in protective mode ever since Lil entered our lives. Anyway, I had to scoop up Lilah to keep her moving along, while struggling to hold Marl back by her harness. Lilah was going on and on about it. oh no! dogs, barking! marley, barking too. oh no! Even after we’ve passed them. So I turn to her and agree. Dogs barking a whole lot. geez. And she goes, yeah, geez.
then a few second pass and she looks at me and just says, ‘What the heck?’
This really caught me off guard, I had no idea she knew that one. I mean, that happens all the time, but something about the way she said this and the timing of it, made me just start giggling. She picked up on that immediately of course and was super proud of herself for all this, so I said, ‘I didn’t know you knew that one.’ She said it again and she started laughing uncontrollably.
Mike finally got an awesome digital camera after far too many years of pining over the decision to shoot something other than film. True to form, he is now fully immersed in photography again. As well he should be. He even got a nifty fish-eye lens and has actually started updating his flickr. This is a Very Good Thing ™. He’ll have an updated site in the relatively near future, but until then check out his flickr page where he has only just begun to bring the reign. (by the way, if you type phrases like ‘bring the reign’ you just might be a huge dork).
after the neverending supply she now has access to, the dog has apparently grown tired of scavenging cheerios and corn puffs off the floor from beneath the highchair. she just came over to investigate, found several morsels and disregarded them.
i guess that means i have to clean this up myself?! thanks a lot, marley.
Marley is egging Lilah on like a doggy mom with a pup! I sometimes leave Lilah sitting in the middle of the lawn while I do some quick gardening, and now that she’s started crawling Marley has been tending to her this way. Also, and it could be my imagination, but I sometimes catch Marley laying nearby strategically blocking Lilah from getting into certain areas. The other day Lilah crawled to Marley and picked up her toy, and Marley laid there patiently waiting for her to drop it.. when she swung it near Marl’s face she grabbed it and they played a brief little tug-of-war.
I just love watching them together so much. When Lilah gets a little bit older, she will have a great playmate in Marley.
marz has been licking her toe for what seems like weeks. i can’t see anything wrong with it, so i just cut out the little dreds she creates by licking it all the time. finally, i took her to the vet.
took a while for the vet to find anything either, but shaving her toe to ominously display her long arched pinkie claw revealed the problem. she had been stuck with a cactus spine and developed an infection around the nail. in fact, there were 4 little cactus spines in my dog’s poor leg! i felt so bad.
we have to put ointment on it twice a day and have her wear a little sock rubber banded to her leg. better that, than the lampshade thing.
when we got home i felt cross at the culprit cactus. it was in the front parkway, where the dog was never indended to run around. but now she occasionally does, since she is rad enough to hang out unleashed when i’m working in front. i dug that thing up and moved it to what i hope remains a less travelled dog area. it was treacherous as hell to deal with; i was stuck a few times as well. the cartoons re: cacti are true.
marley loves to kiss the baby. the way she is so gentle with lilah is amazing. she has never once even touched one of lilah’s toys which are all over the place. marley is truly the best dog ever. all children would be lucky to have a pet like this. and i say that having loved dogs before her. she is the bestest.
